MEET THE AGENT: Lisa Levin

Lisa Levin’s career in real estate has morphed over the years.

The 44-year-old Manhattan Beach resident was on maternity leave from Forest City Enterprises when she and her husband packed up and moved from Ohio to California for his job.

With experience handling retail leasing for businesses like the Hard Rock Cafe, P.F. Chang’s and Gap, real estate was the next step.

Levin decided to get her license and has been working in residential real estate since 2001.

“Next thing you know, it just started happening for me,” Levin said. “I started talking to people and started doing residential and it just went from there. It’s kinda like this business has evolved for me which has been really nice. It’s like, I found it, or it found me, but it just kinda works.”

Today, she works as a full-time agent out of NW Real Estate in Manhattan Beach.

What areas do you cover?

I cover a lot of Los Angeles. It’s so funny because I recently just did two deals in Brentwood and I’m finishing up a deal in Torrance, one in Hawthorne and I have two going in Manhattan Beach. So I handle a broad area which is nice, but I don’t go beyond where I know the area and can help my clients.

What is it about real estate that you like?

I think the nicest part about it is, after it’s all said and done, hopefully people are either in their dream homes or out of situations that might have made them uncomfortable.

But either way, it makes their life better. And your house is probably the most expensive thing that you’ll ever buy. And to help somebody get through that process, it’s an accomplishment. It makes you feel better when people are happy.

Explain your philosophy, “An educated buyer is the best buyer.”

Many people go into buying a house and think they want one thing. But the more knowledge they gain on an area or a type of house, they start understanding better what their needs are. And when they know their needs and they’re educated a little more on what the market is and what they have to go through to get through that process, it makes it better all the way around.

What do you think you’d be doing if you weren’t in real estate?

I don’t know. I have to tell you, I really love what I do and I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t do this because I’ve always done something with real estate.

So what are you doing when you’re not working?

I’m a mom and a wife, which is really important to me.

How many kids do you have?

I have one son who is 11. And my husband Dave and I are just about to celebrate our 18th anniversary. And
